Swimming, camp program gets funds MONTEBELLO – Local philanthropist George Hensel has donated $20,000 for Montebello’s 2007 summer swim program and summer camp. During registration Friday evening, parents who came to register their children for swim lessons or for summer camp received either two free weeks of lessons or one free week of camp. The offer was only for those signing up during Friday’s registration hours from 6 to 9 p.m., said Norma Salinas, director of Parks and Recreation. Watermedia exhibit to open April 14 LA HABRA – The La Habra Art Association invites the public to the opening reception for the 15th annual Watermedia Exhibit from 7 to 9 p.m. April 14 at 215 Orange Street. Please try again.subscribeCongratulations! You’re all set! NORWALK – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in the San Gabriel River in Norwalk early Saturday. The body of the victim, identified only as a Hispanic adult male, was discovered at about 9:30 a.m. on the riverbed near Imperial Highway, said sheriff’s Deputy Bill Brauberger. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Witnesses said that the man may have been shot while walking along a bike path by someone either on foot or on a bike. Investigators were using dogs to search the riverbed, but had not located any suspects.
