Inspired by the vibrant musical communities of Brooklyn and New Orleans, Brooklyn Comes Alive is set to take place across three venues in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Brooklyn Bowl, Schimanski, Music Hall of Williamsburg) on September 23rd and 24th. Each year, Brooklyn Comes Alive offers an eclectic set of late night shows known as the “After Midnight” series. In previous years, acts like Marco Benevento & Friends, Orchard Lounge, Earth, Wind & Power, and DRKWAV have played late night sets at the festival, keeping crowds dancing deep into the night. The combination of beloved hip hop tracks with live horns, bass, and drums is sure to be one of the many highlights of the festival.DJ Premier & The Badder Band Bring Their 90’s Hip-Hop Mastery To NPR’s Tiny Desk [Watch]Meanwhile, over at at Music Hall of Williamsburg, former Darkstar and Nico Jaar man Dave Harrington and his band of Merry Pranksters–including Skerik, Yuka Honda, Spencer Zahn, Mauro Refosco, and Ian Chang–will deliver a set of groove-based, improvisational electronic music. Following Harrington’s set, The Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein, aka Brownie, will arrive fresh off his final night of City Bisco to deliver a DJ set for a third consecutive year at Brooklyn Comes Alive.Finally, at Schimanski, drum wizard KJ Sawka–formerly of Conspirator and currently of EDM super-groups Pendulum and Destroid–will offer up an hour of his incredible mix of live drumming and production. Sawka will set the stage for an epic set from electronic heavy-hitter The Crystal Method.The “After Midnight” shows are the only sets at Brooklyn Comes Alive that are sold for as individual tickets. If you purchase a two-day pass, or a single-day ticket for Saturday, these shows come included with your purchase.
