first_imgStory Links Buy Tickets Live Video DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men’s basketball team hosts nearby Simpson College on Saturday, Nov. 19, afternoon for the third meeting in as many seasons between the two programs. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Knapp Center.The game will be broadcast via The Valley on ESPN3 and on radio on Praise 940-AM.The first 1,500 fans in attendance at Saturday’s game will receive a 2016-17 basketball schedule magnet courtesy of Golden Rule. Additionally, fans can purchase a general admission ticket for $5 by bringing five non-perishable food items to donate at the Knapp Center as part of Hoops 4 Soups.Drake has won four-straight games against the Storm dating back to 1946 and leads the all-time series by a 26-13 margin. In his two games against Simpson, Drake junior Reed Timmer has scored 38 total points while shooting 12-of-15 (.800).Timmer has been Drake’s top scorer in both games this season with 17 points in the season opener against South Dakota and 15 points in the loss at UMKC. In the loss at UMKC, Timmer surpassed 900 career points and currently has 907 career points as he closes in on 1,000 career points in his junior season.Simpson will be playing the second of three games in four days when its visits the Bulldogs. The Storm host Augsburg on Friday evening and Waldorf on Monday. The Storm opened the season with a 75-65 win over Monmouth (Ill.). Sam Amsbaugh led Simpson in that win with 25 points on 8-of-9 shooting.Following Saturday’s contest, the Bulldogs travel to Alaska for the GCI Great Alaska Shootout Nov. 24-26. The Bulldogs open play in the three-game event on Nov. 24 against Iona at 8:30 p.m. CST on CBS Sports Network.
